“This is too obvious!”— RIIZE Faces Criticism Over Suspected Imitation of NewJeans’ Strategies

Netizens are accusing RIIZE of adopting marketing and production strategies similar to those used by NewJeans.

On an online forum, fans have highlighted striking resemblances between RIIZE‘s upcoming comeback and past productions by NewJeans.

Recent sightings of RIIZE in Lisbon, Portugal, where they were filming their music video, have further fueled speculations among netizens.

This choice of location mirrors NewJeans‘ previous shoot for “Super Shy,” which also took place in Lisbon and generated buzz on social media ahead of the comeback.

Netizens argue that RIIZE‘s decision to film in Lisbon and the subsequent viral spread of eyewitness accounts closely resemble NewJeans‘ past tactics.

Notably, NewJeans made headlines as the first K-pop group to shoot a music video on-location in Lisbon, intensifying scrutiny on the actions of RIIZE‘s production team.

This isn’t the first time RIIZE has faced accusations of mimicking NewJeans. Previously, similarities were noted between RIIZE’s “Love 119” MV and NewJeans’ “Ditto” MV, as well as in the design of NewJeans‘ promotional platforms like their networking app, ‘Phoning.’

Netizen reactions have been mixed, with some vehemently accusing RIIZE of copying NewJeans, while others question the validity of these claims.

Meanwhile, RIIZE is set to make their official comeback in April, followed by a global fan tour.

Comments include:

“They copied ‘Ditto’ and now they are gonna copy ‘Super Shy’ lol”

“Really, shouldn’t the fans acknowledge it at this point? Lol, this isn’t just one or two things by chance, so I don’t know why they keep denying it”

“Of course, SM”

“Whoa….After ‘Memories’ and ‘Love 119’ and now, again…”

“The overseas location filming in Lisbon, Portugal, was something that NewJeans did for the first time in K-pop, so this even made the local news in a Portuguese newspaper. If it were just news of RIIZE filming in Lisbon, then I wouldn’t even kick up a fuss, but it’s really annoying and obvious to see how they keep imitating NewJeans’ marketing tactics and benchmarking, the ‘Love 119 – Ditto’ similarities in concept and MV, and that they hired the designers who have worked with NewJeans just make it harder to avoid the fact that they purposely decided to go to Lisbon of all places. And the fact that they are relying on a similar viral leak with the same camera angle, too lol”

“People keep making these types of posts just to make Bunnies look bad. They are just building it up like this, so just ignore it, Bunnies”

“If it were just once or twice I’d probably shook it off, but now it’s not even a coincidence…”

“SM already acknowledged the fact that they are using benchmarking tactics and that they used the same designer who has worked with NewJeans”

“Ugh, I don’t know why people are already jumping to conclusions that they copied NewJeans. Their concepts are different, so I don’t know why they are getting accused…?”

“This is too obvious”

“It’s not that they are just referencing the concept but copying the same compositions and camera angles. This is what is annoying to me.”

“Even the NewJeans one was filmed not by some real passer-by but done so for intentional viral marketing lol this just makes me laugh how much they want to copy NewJeans’ tactics”

“I’m not sure if they are downright ‘copying’ NewJeans but I think it’s true that most idols nowadays just keep referencing NewJeans”

“How can they be this brazen”

“I can’t believe fans are defending this…..”

“I actually did think of ‘Super Shy’ the moment I saw that leaked footage about RIIZE”
