Amidst the fervent admiration for the tvN drama ‘Queen of Tears,’ starring actor Kim Soo Hyun in a prominent role, discussions have emerged regarding his appearance fee.
It’s been reported that Kim Soo Hyun negotiated a fee of 5 billion won for his involvement in ‘Queen of Tears,’ spanning 16 episodes. This translates to over 300 million won per episode, sparking industry interest.
However, recent media claims suggesting an appearance fee of 800 million won per episode for Kim Soo Hyun in ‘Queen of Tears‘ were found to be inaccurate.
In reality, his fee for this project is lower compared to his previous work, ‘One Ordinary Day,’ which has raised eyebrows among industry observers.
The rising salaries of actors have become a concern for production companies, as they strain production budgets.
For Kim Soo Hyun, reports of receiving 500 million won per episode for ‘One Ordinary Day’ garnered significant attention, although his agency has remained tight-lipped about the specifics of his fees.
‘Queen of Tears,’ scripted by Park Ji Eun, is known for its substantial production cost of 40 billion won, with 5 billion won, or one-eighth of the budget, allocated for Kim Soo Hyun’s role.
Despite the fee discussions, ‘Queen of Tears‘ continues to capture audience attention, evident in its recent milestone of achieving its highest viewership rating to date in Episode 6, reaching 14.1% according to Nielsen Korea’s nationwide standard.
Episode 7 is scheduled to air on March 30 at 9:20 PM KST, promising to enthrall viewers further with its captivating storyline.
