Recently, LE SSERAFIM faced an incident of sexual harassment from Taiwanese entertainer Huang Weijin.
According to a Taiwanese media report on January 29, the incident occurred during a Lunar New Year’s special program, ‘2024 Taiwan Superstar Red and White Entertainment Awards,’ held on January 27.
LE SSERAFIM was invited to the program for a performance and fan interaction. During the event, while the members were attempting to eat sweet potato balls with bamboo skewers, the host, Huang Weijin, made an inappropriate comment, saying, “I want to stick it in them down there…the fried sweet potato balls.”
Upon hearing this comment, the co-host, Lulu Huang Lu Zi Yin, pointed out his remark and criticized him, stating, “Hey Weijin, I think you made a verbal mistake.” However, Huang Weijin responded with, “I just wanted to eat with them; I didn’t mean any other intention.”
The video of Huang Weijin‘s comment went viral, leading to widespread criticism from netizens who expressed anger and disgust toward his inappropriate remark.
Facing the backlash, Huang Weijin posted an apology on his social media. He stated, “It was part of the broadcast to allow the members to eat delicious food one by one, and I instinctively wanted to react to Yoon Jin’s statement about sticking sweet potato balls. I didn’t want to make the eating process awkward.”
He continued, “I said words that could be misunderstood by everyone, but the message I wanted to convey in my heart was ‘I’m glad to share delicious food with idols I like.'”
