“IU in Hot Water” IU’s ‘Love Wins All’ MV Over Alleged Ableism Triggers Online Backlash

IU is currently embroiled in controversy due to claimed ableism in her “Love Wins All” music video.

Fans of BTSV have been praising the music video that came out yesterday, and V is currently trending on social media for his strong performance opposite IU.

But some people are saying that the MV plot and characters are unfair because they seem to favor people who don’t have disabilities.

V, who has lost his sight, and IU, who is deaf, play disabled people in the music video. They use camcorders to watch the love between pairs who are not disabled.

Some critics say that IU and V are objects because they are disabled, and the world that is free of hate and discrimination at the end of the MV is just the people with disabilities going away.

Others say that limiting people who face bias because of a disability is based on prejudice.

Because of the scandal, IU‘s past interactions with wheelchair-bound actor Ha Ji Sung have been made public.

IU and Ha Ji Sung recently met at the “Baeksang Arts Awards” ceremony. When Ha Ji Sung was thinking about how he could take a group picture while having trouble with his wheelchair, IU‘s idea to take pictures helped him.

People expressed their disagreement with IU’s actions toward disabled actors by saying, “You shouldn’t jump to conclusions based on the interpretation of a music video,” “You can’t say IU is belittling the disabled after looking at her actual actions,” and “It’s unfortunate that the music video is being overly interpreted.”

What do you think? Have you seen IU‘s music video for “Love Wins All”?
