Lee Yoo Mi, Who Won an Emmy for ‘Squid Game’, Remembers Sobbing at Home Alone

In a recent interview on JTBC’s “Newsroom,” actor Lee Yoo Mi discussed her career and her latest drama.

After 15 years since her debut, host Kang Ji Young acknowledged Yoo Mi‘s significant growth and recognition by the public. Yoo Mi made history as the first Korean actress to win an Emmy Award for “Guest Actress” through her role in “Squid Game.”

Kang Ji Young expressed amazement at hearing Korean at the award ceremony. Yoo Mi responded by expressing her excitement and feeling a bit dazed. She remembered feeling so good that she couldn’t tell if she was walking or standing.

When she saw her name on the award box at home, she became emotional and praised herself for the hard work. Yoo Mi recalled crying alone in that moment.

Moving on to her role in “Strong Woman Gang Nàm-soon,” Yoo Mi disclosed that Nam-soon is a pure character that required a lot of consideration. She had many discussions with the director because she had to speak informally on screen.

She believed that if she made a mistake, it would be disliked by the viewers. Yoo Mi tried her best to speak casually to match the innocence of her character and attributed her success in portraying the role to the director’s guidance.
