“They really crossed the line!” — LE SSERAFIM Sparks Controversy Over Rising Sun Flag Imagery

Korean netizens are up in arms as HYBE’s girl group LE SSERAFIM finds themselves in hot water. The group has been accused of using subliminal messaging and background images that resemble the rising sun flag.

This comes just two weeks after the dust has barely settled from their Coachella scandal, and it seems like the group just can’t catch a break.

The group has been heavily criticized for the alleged pro-Japanese elements in their content, casting a negative light on their parent company, HYBE.

This is especially damaging as HYBE is currently dealing with the fallout from the Dahn World scandal, allegations of illegal charting, false album sales, and more.

Netizens have been quick to voice their opinions:

“It’s over for them. Farewell.”

“All this time, no one cared enough for this to get enough attention or even for anyone to notice it but now it can’t be unseen. The 1945 Project was real, freedom for all.”

“I remember writing a comment about how that clip in the MV looked like the rising sun and I got a ton of hate for it.”

“It just keeps getting deeper the more you dig, even when you think there couldn’t possibly be more.”

“All while at the center of their live singing controversy… how unfortunate, it’s really the end for them now.”

NewJeans, you guys win.”

“They crossed way over the line. The rising sun motif changes everything.”

“It’s over.”

“As if the Coachella scandal wasn’t bad enough… there was more. I had no idea.”

What do you guys think? What does the future hold for LE SSERAFIM in their current state?
