aespa’s Karina recalls how awkward it was to have RIIZE greet them as ‘sunbaenim’

For the aespa members, celebrating their 3rd debut anniversary is still a little hard to digest. The girl group appeared as guests on the November 25 broadcast of JTBC’s ‘Knowing Bros’ and talked about their world tour, working on their new album, and more.

The members revealed that they will be celebrating their 3rd debut anniversary, as Giselle observed, “We still have a long way to go, but I personally think that we’ve matured fast. We’ve been through a lot.”

On the other hand, Winter commented, “Before I debuted, I thought that idol groups in their third year were considered ‘seasoned’. But we are in our third year now, and I still feel like we should be called ‘rookies’. In some ways, I think, ‘What did we even achieve that we’re already in our third year?’.”

Super Junior‘s Heechul asked the girls, “There is a new rookie group at SM now, RIIZE. Did they come and greet you as sunbaenim?”

Karina frowned and replied, “Yes, they came and greeted us. They did the whole spiel, team greeting and all.”

She continued, “Our manager oppa was like, ‘Since you’re the leader, you should say something!’.”

She made a face to indicate how awkward the situation was for her at the time, and added on, “So I just said some generic stuff, like ‘Fighting! Don’t get sick and go rest up!’.”
