Actor Jang Ki Yong is back on the small screen after a 3-year hiatus, and he’s more confident than ever in his new drama ‘The Atypical Family’.
The actor recently attended a production presentation for the JTBC‘s new weekend drama, alongside director Jo Hyun Tak and co-stars Chun Woo Hee, Soo Hyun, and Park So Yi.
‘The Atypical Family‘ is a fantasy romance drama that tells the story of a man with extraordinary abilities who finally manages to save his destined woman. This marks Jang Ki Yong‘s first drama since his military discharge in February last year.
When asked about his decision to choose ‘The Atypical Family‘ as his comeback project, Jang Ki Yong shared that he was drawn to the unique title and the distinctive characteristics of the characters. He also expressed excitement about the unpredictability of his role.
Interestingly, Jang Ki Yong also takes on the role of a father for the first time in this drama. He admitted that it wasn’t easy, but he didn’t want to be confined to the character of a father. He put a lot of thought into how to make his character feel real to the audience.
The actor also revealed his chemistry with co-star Chun Woo Hee, saying that their romance could be sweet, sad, but also poignant. He praised their teamwork, saying they relied on each other during the tough times and had fun filming together.
Chun Woo Hee also shared her thoughts on working with Jang Ki Yong, saying that their unexpected pairing turned out to be surprisingly refreshing on screen.
Meanwhile, Soo Hyun took on a challenging role in the drama. She plays a former top model who has lost her ability to fly due to weight gain after retirement.
