Stray Kids made history on May 6 by becoming the first K-Pop group to attend the MET Gala.
The group was invited by designer Tommy Hilfiger, who also provided custom outfits for the members to wear. Sticking to Tommy Hilfiger’s color scheme, the group donned suits in red, white, and blue.
Many fans praised the group’s visuals, appreciating the well-fitted outfits. However, some felt that the group’s outfits were a letdown.
Each year, the MET Gala announces a theme for guests to follow, and this year’s was “The Garden Of Time.”
In addition to a literal garden, there were many interpretations of the theme, including how the exhibition is divided into land, sea, and sky.
Netizens felt that the group could have worn something more on theme, especially for their first appearance.
Some compared their looks to something that could have been worn for a Korean music show like Inkigayo.
However, this is also something that occurs often with MET Gala attendees. Usually, male attendees are criticized for not following the theme, so this is not too out of the ordinary.
Despite the criticisms, many still praised Stray Kids’ visuals, remarking they looked handsome.
As the buzz continues, fans and netizens alike are eagerly awaiting more updates from Stray Kids and their future appearances at such high-profile events.
