• Lee Seung Gi shocks fans by announcing he will cut ties with his in-laws after father-in-law’s scandal: "I deeply apologize to all the victims"

Singer and actor Lee Seung Gi has officially apologized to the victims hurt by his father-in-law’s crimes — and announced he has decided to cut ties with his in-laws.

On April 29 KST, Lee Seung Gi shared a heartfelt statement. He said,

"As someone who waited, trusting my family, I cannot hide my deep sadness over my father-in-law’s actions. I also reflect deeply on my careless words from last year when I spoke without properly checking the facts."

    He continued,

"I believe that any illegal act must be punished properly. I feel very sorry for the victims who suffered because of my quick and careless judgment, and I sincerely apologize to them. I also feel deep regret towards everyone who trusted and supported me."

    Lee Seung Gi added,

"Because of this incident, the trust within my family has been badly broken and cannot be fixed. After a lot of thought, my wife and I have decided to completely cut ties with my in-laws. From now on, I promise to live with the right values and take responsibility to help make a better society."

This all comes after a long legal battle involving his father-in-law. In June last year, the Supreme Court overturned a not guilty ruling and sent the case back for retrial.

The case involved A, the husband of actress Kyeon Mi Ri (Lee Seung Gi’s mother-in-law). A was accused of working with a CEO named Kim to manipulate stock prices between 2014 and 2016. They allegedly made false announcements to raise stock prices and made billions of won illegally.

It was claimed that they used Kyeon Mi Ri’s name and Chinese investors to trick people into thinking there would be a big investment. This led the stock price to shoot up from about 2,000 KRW to around 15,000 KRW per share. However, it turned out that the money they claimed to invest was mostly borrowed, not personal funds.

At the first trial, A was sentenced to 4 years in prison and fined 2.5 billion KRW, while Kim was given 3 years in prison and fined 1.2 billion KRW. Even though they were found not guilty later in a second trial, the Supreme Court later ruled them guilty.

Meanwhile, Lee Seung Gi married actress Lee Da In (Kyeon Mi Ri’s daughter) in April 2023. The couple welcomed their daughter in February 2024.

Fans are shocked but are showing support for Lee Seung Gi as he chooses to stand up for what is right, even if it means cutting ties with family.

  • Taeyeon's Japan concert officially canceled and fans are heartbroken, says: "feels like the show was stolen" Here's Why

Taeyeon’s Tokyo concert has sadly been canceled for good, and both she and her fans are feeling emotional.

On April 29, SM Entertainment shared an official statement confirming that 'Taeyeon Concert – The ODD of LOVE in Japan' will not be happening anymore. The show was originally scheduled for April 19–20 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

SM stated, “After the concert was postponed, we did our best to find another venue that could hold the same number of fans and still offer the best performance. But we couldn’t secure a proper venue, so we’ve decided to cancel the concert.”

They also added, “We’re really sorry to all the fans who waited patiently. We checked every possible way to make it happen, but in the end, we had no choice but to make this difficult decision. Thank you for your understanding.”

As for those who already bought tickets, SM said, “You’ll get a full refund. Please check the My Page section or your ticket email on April 30 for more info.”

Taeyeon was supposed to hold her concert in Tokyo as part of her Asia tour. But earlier this month, the concert had to be canceled last-minute due to equipment delays.

After hearing the news, Taeyeon shared her thoughts through her fan communication platform. She said, “When the news about the canceled concert came out, I was really worried about SONE. I didn’t even know what to say.”

She added, “It felt like a concert that everyone worked hard on and looked forward to just disappeared. Like it was stolen from us. I don’t even know how to explain how empty and helpless I feel.”

Fans have been showing their support, saying they’ll continue to wait for her return to Japan.
