Jang Geun Suk opened up about his battle with cancer, his dreams, and why he's more focused than ever on giving back.
On the April 20th episode of MBN’s Let’s Go Season 4 (Gabojago), the beloved “Asia Prince” welcomed hosts Ahn Jung Hwan and Hong Hyun Hee into his home and shared some emotional truths.
Back in August 2024, Jang Geun Suk revealed he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Talking about how life changed since then, he said, “I started caring for myself more. I try to stay away from things that are bad for my body. I even stopped smoking. The pain I went through actually made me stronger.”
He then shared something close to his heart — a dream that came out of his struggle. “I know it might sound arrogant,” he said honestly, “but I want to earn more money. Not for myself, but so I can give back to the people who have supported me. I’ve even been studying to start something meaningful related to charity.”

Jang Geun Suk went on to explain how a past donation ended up helping him when he needed it most. “A while ago, I donated about 1.2 billion KRW to Hanyang University to support students."

He added. "Later, when I had to go to Hanyang University Hospital for my cancer treatment, I saw my name on the donation list. Because of that, I was able to get my surgery under really good conditions.”
He continued, “At that moment, I truly felt like what I gave came back to me. It made me believe this might be some kind of rule from the sky. I started thinking more seriously about my future.”
Despite knowing some might judge him, Jang Geun Suk said he’s not afraid. “People might say, ‘He’s still greedy and showing off,’ but I don’t care about that anymore. I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to keep my promise and keep giving.”
Fans are touched by his honesty and strength, and many are cheering him on as he turns pain into purpose.
