Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s team has spoken up again about the lawsuit involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron’s family and Kim Se Ui, the head of Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon), clearing up new rumors and making it clear they are pushing forward.
On March 31, Kim Soo Hyun held a press conference where he explained that he only dated Kim Sae Ron for about a year after she became an adult. He also revealed shocking claims that Kim Sae Ron’s family allegedly edited KakaoTalk messages to make it look like they were talking to him back in 2016 and 2018 — but according to a scientific statement analysis, it wasn’t him at all.
After finding this out, Kim Soo Hyun filed a lawsuit demanding 12 billion KRW in damages.
Later, the Seoul Central District Court asked Kim Soo Hyun’s side to correct some paperwork and pay court-related fees, totaling about 38 million KRW. When his team asked for an extension on April 16, rumors spread that they might be trying to delay the payment — but that turned out to be completely false.
On April 17, Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer cleared things up in a phone interview with Star News, saying,
"We already paid the full amount without any problem. The extension request was just to fix some address details, not to delay anything."
The lawyer especially pointed out that it’s been hard to track down one of the defendants, the so-called “fake aunt.”
He explained,
"We couldn’t confirm her name, phone number, or ID number yet, but eventually we will. A criminal complaint has also been filed, so the investigation agency will help find her."
He added,
"If we get even one piece of information, like a phone number, we can track her down through telecom companies. We’re also trying other ways to find her fast."
The lawyer also mentioned that through police investigations, they might access call records from other people involved, which could help secure her contact details.
As for the first court hearing, the lawyer said it’s hard to say exactly when it will happen, but it will probably move forward together with the ongoing criminal investigation.
