IU has done it again — the star has proven her incredible popularity by becoming a YouTuber with over 10 million subscribers!
IU, who recently captured hearts with her double role in the Netflix original When Life Gives You Tangerines, has reached a major milestone on her official YouTube channel 이지금 [IU Official]. On April 6, IU’s team shared that she had officially hit 10 million subscribers, making her one of the rare Korean stars to receive YouTube’s Diamond Play Button.
In celebration, a short video titled 10 million YouTuber Lee Ji Geum (using IU's real name) was uploaded. The video shows IU watching the live subscriber count and reacting in real time. With big eyes and a bright smile, she happily shouted, “10 million subscribers, achieved!” Her cute reaction made fans love her even more.

IU said, “I’ve become a YouTuber with over 10 million subscribers and a Diamond Play Button holder. I’ll keep making fun content as a 10 million YouTuber. Thank you to all the 10 million subscribers who supported me.”
Getting 10 million subscribers is no easy feat. Even famous personalities like fighter and YouTuber Choo Sung Hoon haven’t reached that level yet. Choo, who has about 1.5 million subscribers, once said, “I proudly showed my Gold Play Button to my daughter Sarang, but her reaction was cold.” He added that Sarang watches only the biggest creators — with 10 or even 100 million subscribers — and told him, “Don’t be satisfied with 1 million. Go for 10 million.”

Well, IU just did it — and Sarang would probably approve.
Meanwhile, IU’s latest drama When Life Gives You Tangerines has been a global hit. She showed a new side of her acting by playing both Ae Soon (in her teens and 20s) and Ae Soon’s daughter Geum Myeong (in middle age). Her sweet chemistry with Park Bo Gum in Act 1 especially caught fans’ attention around the world.
The show started releasing episodes on March 7, four per week for four weeks. It topped Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English series during its third week and ranked #3 after its final episode. It also reached 6 million views based on viewing hours.
With her acting, music, and now her YouTube success, IU continues to prove she's truly a global superstar.
