Former Girls’ Generation member Jessica is once again making headlines—this time for her massive success in China and a surprising comment made by fellow member Hyoyeon.
Jessica, who debuted in 2007 with Girls’ Generation, left the group in 2014 after SM Entertainment opposed her business plans. Since then, she’s been focused on her solo career, especially in China—and it looks like it's paying off big time. Reports say Jessica is making hundreds of billions of Korean won through her promotions and brand activities.
She’s signed under Coridel Entertainment, run by her longtime boyfriend Tyler Kwon, and is the head designer of her own fashion brand Blanc & Eclare.

In 2022, Jessica appeared on the popular Chinese survival show Sisters Who Make Waves (Season 3), where she wowed everyone by finishing 2nd and debuting in a girl group formed through the show. Thanks to this, she gained a massive fanbase in China.
Jessica’s career hasn’t stopped growing. In 2021, she opened the flagship Korean store of Blanc & Eclare in Cheongdam-dong, along with a fancy restaurant called Clareau. She also has over 10 million followers on social media and keeps in touch with fans through YouTube, where she has around 800,000 subscribers.
She even made a music comeback in 2023 with her mini album BEEP BEEP, her first release in six years. Still, she hasn’t been seen much on Korean TV since her departure from the group.

While Jessica shines overseas, her name unexpectedly came up in a recent video featuring Hyoyeon on the YouTube channel M드로메다 Studio. On the show, Ji Ye Eun shared how she looked up to Girls’ Generation during her school days, saying, “I had their pictures on my pencil case and used to dance to their songs at lunchtime.”
When asked, “Wasn’t it your dream to join Girls’ Generation?”, Hyoyeon replied casually but boldly, “There was a spot open. One member had left,” — clearly referring to Jessica. Her blunt honesty caught viewers off guard and instantly became a hot topic among fans.
Jessica’s family is also well-known. Her younger sister is Krystal, a former member of f(x). The two were discovered by SM Entertainment at the same time during a visit to a department store in Bundang in the early 2000s. Jessica trained for 7 years before debuting, while Krystal trained for 9 years.
Even though Jessica has stepped away from Korean variety shows, she continues to stay active in her own way. Whether it’s through fashion, music, or YouTube, fans are cheering her on—and keeping a close eye on what she does next.
