The Boyz member Sunwoo has issued an apology after facing backlash over his behavior toward a bodyguard.
The controversy began when a video of Sunwoo leaving a radio broadcast went viral. In the video, Sunwoo, after entering an elevator, suddenly shouted, "My AirPods!"
A bodyguard behind him picked up the AirPods and handed them to him, but Sunwoo took them without properly thanking the bodyguard, which sparked criticism for his lack of manners.

Sunwoo responded to the controversy on a fan communication platform, admitting, "Everyone was talking about the AirPods, so I watched the video. It really looks like I just took them without thanking or greeting properly."
He explained, "A fan yelled something, and I didn’t realize anything had fallen. I was confused and then noticed my AirPods were missing, so I shouted 'My AirPods!' I was looking for them, but I couldn’t find them. When I got them from the bodyguard, I said 'thank you,' but I didn’t bow or show the respect I should have."
Sunwoo further added, "I realize it could have looked bad. I always try to say thank you when someone holds the door for me or does something for me. Don’t worry, I always try to greet people properly."

He continued, "I can’t explain everything in detail, but I see now that I made a mistake. I understand how it looked, and I’ll be more careful to avoid misunderstandings in the future. I always greet the staff and others with respect at music shows."
This isn’t the first time Sunwoo has been involved in a controversy. Back in July 2020, he apologized for a smoking scandal after a photo of him holding a cigarette at a no-smoking beach was shared online.
While Sunwoo was not underage, the issue was about the inappropriate behavior at a public, no-smoking area. He later apologized, saying, "I’m sorry to the fans, I made a mistake and broke the rules. I feel terrible for my family, the members, and the company. I will be more careful and ensure this doesn’t happen again."
Fans are hoping Sunwoo learns from his past mistakes and continues to grow.
