The police have officially halted their investigation into the Japanese women involved in an incident where BTS member Jin was kissed without consent.
On March 26, reports revealed that the Songpa Police Station in Seoul decided to suspend the case against the suspects.
According to police regulations, an investigation can be put on hold if the suspect’s location is unknown, if they stay overseas for more than two months, or if health issues prevent questioning for a long time.
Authorities shared that one of the women, identified as A, is unable to attend questioning right now but may be able to in a few months. Meanwhile, the other woman, B, has not been located yet.
The controversial incident happened on June 13, 2023, at the 2024 FESTA "Jin Greetings" event at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul. Jin gave free hugs to around 1,000 fans, but a fan unexpectedly kissed his cheek, causing an uproar over possible sexual misconduct.
Following a complaint from a netizen on June 19, police launched an investigation under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. In February 2024, A and others were officially booked for indecent assault in a public place.
Now that the case is suspended, many fans are wondering what will happen next.
