IU and Byeon Woo Seok have officially responded to the rumors that they are leaving the upcoming drama 21st Century Prince's Wife.
On March 28, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, told SPOTV News, "The rumors about IU leaving 21st Century Prince's Wife are not true. The project is being prepared well."
Similarly, Byeon Woo Seok’s agency, VARO Entertainment, also addressed the issue, stating, "The rumors about Byeon Woo Seok leaving 21st Century Prince's Wife are not true."
Earlier, a media outlet claimed that IU and Byeon Woo Seok wanted to step down from the drama, citing an insider who said, "IU and Byeon Woo Seok have expressed their intention to leave 21st Century Prince's Wife."
The report also suggested that MBC is in talks with Disney+ for streaming rights, but the actors allegedly prefer Netflix, causing a conflict.
Set in a modern-day constitutional monarchy, 21st Century Prince's Wife follows a chaebol woman who has everything except noble status and a prince who has the title but nothing else. Their romance unfolds as they challenge societal barriers.
With IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s star power, the drama is already drawing massive attention. Currently in its pre-production stage, MBC is targeting a release this year.
