NewJeans has officially wrapped up their role as promotional ambassadors for Incheon Airport Customs, and all traces of them at the airport have been removed.
According to Seoul Economic Daily on March 27, Incheon Airport Customs did not extend its contract with NewJeans, which had been in place since March last year.
As a result, the banners featuring the girl group at the airport’s arrival hall have been taken down.
When they were first appointed, Incheon Airport Customs praised the group, saying, "NewJeans is leading a new paradigm in K-pop and has great influence in the cultural and music industries. We believed they were the perfect fit to promote customs administration, including high-quality clearance services and crackdowns on illegal goods."
However, just a month later, in April last year, ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and HYBE became embroiled in a major management dispute.
As tensions between the two sides escalated, NewJeans' activities as ambassadors were overshadowed, making it difficult for Incheon Airport Customs to gain the expected promotional benefits.
Meanwhile, on March 21, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of ADOR, granting an injunction that prevents NewJeans members from signing independent advertising contracts or engaging in activities without agency approval.
This means that until the first trial of the main lawsuit is concluded, NewJeans cannot promote or take on endorsements without ADOR’s consent.
With their banners gone from Incheon Airport and legal battles still ongoing, fans are left wondering what’s next for NewJeans.
