A close friend of the late actress Kim Sae Ron has made surprising claims, revealing that she struggled to "keep her position as empress" during her relationship with Kim Soo Hyun.

On March 26, a person known as "A," who was reportedly close to Kim Sae Ron, released a recorded conversation with journalist Lee Jin Ho through a YouTube channel. In the recording, A alleged, “Seventy percent of the reason for Sae Ron’s death was Kim Soo Hyun, 25 percent was Lee Jin Ho, and 5 percent was her ‘New York husband.’”

A claimed that Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun had a deep history, saying, “They met when they were both minors. From Kim Soo Hyun’s perspective, Sae Ron knew everything about him, which made her his Achilles’ heel. It seemed like he wanted to remove her at all costs. I’m certain of this. Sae Ron even talked about it.”

The friend continued, “Sae Ron told me that during her six-year relationship with Kim Soo Hyun, she struggled to ‘keep her position as empress’ because he kept bringing in concubines. I also know more about what Kim Soo Hyun did to her. She held a lot of resentment toward him. I want to help her find peace.”

A also spoke about Kim Sae Ron’s family, saying, “Her mother was like her manager, but I don’t know what her father was doing. I saw her talking to her mother on the phone a lot, and their conversations seemed good. Her parents loved her, but maybe from her perspective, it wasn’t enough.”

The same YouTube channel also claimed that Kim Sae Ron’s ex-boyfriend was an aspiring idol. Even after their breakup, he allegedly kept calling her by pet names and asked for help getting into an agency. This reportedly led to the “New York husband” sending him messages filled with profanity.

The channel further hinted at a possible cover-up, claiming that an interview with Kim Sae Ron’s ex-boyfriend—who denied Kim Soo Hyun’s involvement in her death—might have been influenced by a powerful force.

However, none of these claims have been officially verified.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun has been accused of dating Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, but his agency, Gold Medalist, denied the allegations, stating they only started dating after she became an adult.

Kim Sae Ron’s family is set to hold a press conference on March 27 at 1:30 PM in Seocho-gu, Seoul, where they plan to reveal evidence related to the case.
