Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, has made a sudden shift in its stance regarding Kim Sae Ron’s debt repayment.
After firmly demanding repayment and threatening legal action, the agency is now open to discussing “methods of repayment.”
This change happened after a photo of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron together was released, sparking intense speculation.

According to reports, Gold Medalist first sent a content certification letter to Kim Sae Ron on March 15, demanding she repay 686 million KRW (~$510,000) by December 31, 2023. The letter warned of legal consequences if she failed to comply.
Kim Sae Ron reportedly tried multiple times to contact Kim Soo Hyun and the agency’s executives, even using a friend’s phone after her calls and messages were ignored.
She allegedly pleaded, “It’s not that I won’t repay, I just can’t. Please help me.” However, she received no response.

In frustration, Kim Sae Ron posted a photo of herself pressing cheeks with Kim Soo Hyun on social media in the early hours of March 24 but deleted it three minutes later. This move was seen as an attempt to pressure the agency into responding.
Shortly after, Gold Medalist sent a second legal notice on March 25. This time, while still urging repayment, the agency softened its tone, saying, “We are open to discussing a repayment plan, including methods and timelines.”
The second letter acknowledged Kim Sae Ron’s financial struggles and suggested negotiations for repayment. However, it also warned her against directly contacting Kim Soo Hyun and other actors about the debt.
Gold Medalist also addressed the photo she posted, emphasizing that Kim Soo Hyun was starring in Queen of Tears at the time. “Your actions could impact not only the actor and our company but also the production team, other cast members, staff, the broadcasting station, and streaming platforms. This could lead to serious legal issues,” the letter stated.
The agency’s sudden change in tone has fueled speculation that the release of the photo may have pressured them to reconsider their legal approach.
Kim Sae Ron’s family is now considering legal action against Kim Soo Hyun. Their legal representative, Bu Ji Seok, argued that despite the agency’s claims of being open to discussion, the letter still demanded repayment within a set timeframe.
Bu also pointed out that while Gold Medalist softened its wording, Kim Soo Hyun himself never personally reached out to Kim Sae Ron even after the controversy exploded.
Meanwhile, YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute claimed on March 10 that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron had been in a six-year relationship starting in 2015 when she was only 15. They further alleged that Gold Medalist demanded the repayment of 700 million KRW (~$520,000) spent on covering her drunk driving accident and other issues.
However, Gold Medalist denied these claims, stating, “Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron only dated from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after she became an adult. The rumors that they dated when she was a minor are false.”
Regarding the debt issue, the agency clarified, “This was strictly between Gold Medalist and Kim Sae Ron. The speculation that Kim Soo Hyun personally lent her money and later demanded repayment is unfounded. He was never involved in the financial dealings.”
As tensions continue to rise, all eyes are on what steps Kim Sae Ron’s side will take next—and whether Kim Soo Hyun will finally break his silence.
