Kim Soo Hyun is now caught up in serious dating allegations involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron, who was 12 years younger than him. As rumors spread, an old statement he made about marriage is now getting attention again.
Back in May 2013, during a showcase for his movie Secretly, Greatly, Kim Soo Hyun talked about his marriage plans.
He shared, "When I was 24, I was thinking about my future, and I planned to get married around 36 or 37. But now, I don’t think I can follow that plan."
Then, he added, "I think it’s been pushed back a bit. I’ll probably get married at around 41," before joking, "I’ll marry a 21-year-old then."
At that time, Kim Sae Ron, who was only 13, attended the VIP screening of the movie.
Meanwhile, on March 10, the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute made shocking claims that Kim Sae Ron’s family confirmed she had a six-year relationship with Kim Soo Hyun, starting when she was 15 years old.
A family member reportedly said in a phone interview, "It is true that Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron were in a romantic relationship. They were together for six years."
The family also claimed that Kim Sae Ron worked for free to help build Gold Medalist, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, but was later "discarded like an old shoe."
On top of that, they alleged that Kim Sae Ron received a legal notice from Kim Soo Hyun’s side, demanding 700 million KRW (about $530,000) for damages related to her DUI scandal. They claimed that when she tried to contact him, she couldn’t reach him—leading her to post their photo together, which sparked dating rumors.
According to them, Kim Sae Ron had even prepared a post to reveal their six-year relationship. In the alleged statement, she wrote,
"The past articles denying our dating rumors were false. I want to make it clear that they were not true. The photo I posted on my story was from 2016, and our relationship lasted from November 19, 2015, to July 7, 2021. I was 16, and he was 30. That’s how our six-year relationship ended."
She also allegedly stated, "I was looking for a new agency before my contract ended. During this time, I was in talks with my ex-boyfriend’s agency, and even without discussing contract terms, I signed with Gold Medalist. I worked on rookie casting, visual directing, and more without proper pay."
In response, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, strongly denied all allegations, saying, "The claims made by Garo Sero Institute regarding Kim Soo Hyun are completely false."
