• BLACKPINK’s Jennie Reveals the Real Reason She Became a Rapper —And It’s Not What You’d Expect

BLACKPINK’s Jennie shared a surprising story about how she ended up as the group’s rapper, and it turns out it wasn’t part of the plan!

On the March 10 (local time) episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Jennie appeared as a guest and opened up about her journey in the music industry.

When asked if she had always dreamed of being a pop star, she confessed, “I knew I wanted to be in the music industry, but I didn’t really know what being a pop star meant.”

She continued, “When I saw performances, they looked so beautiful and glamorous. But I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be that or if I wanted to create shows like that on stage. I just knew I wanted to be a part of it.”

Jennie, who trained for six years before debuting with BLACKPINK, described her trainee life as a long but necessary journey. “It really felt like a long time,” she recalled. “I kept wondering when I would finally get to step out into the world, but looking back now, that training period was basically like going to school to become a pop star.”

She explained, “Every day, we trained like we were in an academy. We had vocal lessons, dance lessons, foreign language lessons—it was all about preparing to become superstars.”

Jennifer Hudson then asked if rapping had always come naturally to her, and Jennie shared a funny but unexpected backstory.

She revealed, “Actually, when I was a trainee, I was one of the very few members who could speak fluent English. And since we were covering songs from all over the world, someone needed to be able to speak fast.”

That’s right—Jennie became a rapper simply because no one else could rap in English at the time! She laughed, “I became a rapper for a fun reason, but after that, I really started to enjoy rapping.”

Jennie also teased BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated third world tour, which is set to happen this summer. However, she remained tight-lipped, saying, “I can’t say anything. Don’t ask me.”

She playfully added, “We’re still preparing a lot, so if you come and see it, you’ll find out.”

Fans have always been amazed by Jennie’s powerful and charismatic stage presence, which is quite different from her everyday personality.

When asked about this, she admitted, “Honestly, I still haven’t figured out the secret. I don’t know what exactly switches me into that mode, but I feel like it’s just embedded in me.”

She continued, “When I hear music or when I focus, I naturally become that way. I’m really grateful for this talent, and I love that part of myself.”

With her effortless charm and talent, Jennie continues to prove why she’s one of the biggest stars in K-pop today.

  • Kim Soo Hyun Faces Calls to Step Down from "Good Day" Amid Growing Controversy: "G-Dragon’s Show Is Supposed to Be Fun"

Kim Soo Hyun’s recent controversy is now affecting his appearance on MBC’s Good Day, with some viewers demanding that he leave the show.

On March 12, a post titled "ㄱㅅㅎ should step down" appeared on the viewer feedback section of Good Day, sparking discussion online.

The post’s author wrote, "G-Dragon’s show is supposed to be for fun, so what’s this controversy with ㄱㅅㅎ? He should voluntarily step down," directly calling for Kim Soo Hyun’s removal from the program.

Good Day is a music project variety show led by G-Dragon, where he collaborates with well-known figures from different fields to create a song representing the year. Kim Soo Hyun, who shares the same birth year as G-Dragon, was added to the show as part of the ’88 line, winning fans over with his friendly and lighthearted image.

However, things took a turn when Kim Soo Hyun became embroiled in controversy regarding allegations of a past romantic relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron when she was still a minor. While his agency strongly denied the claims, calling them "false information," additional photos showing affectionate moments between the two—such as a cheek kiss—along with text messages sent by Kim Sae Ron, have only fueled the public’s doubts.

Although the viewer feedback post did not mention his full name, Kim Soo Hyun is the only cast member whose initials match "ㄱㅅㅎ," making it clear that the post was referring to him.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun is also set to star in Disney+’s upcoming drama Knock-Off, with the first season scheduled to be released soon. However, with his controversy continuing to spread, even Knock-Off is facing growing concerns.
