• Park Hyung Sik watches his sister ‘die’ right before his eyes — SBS’s "Buried Hearts" breaks records with skyrocketing ratings

SBS’s Buried Hearts is on fire! The drama has once again shattered its own viewership record, proving its immense popularity.

According to Nielsen Korea on March 9, the 6th episode of Buried Hearts, which aired on March 8, hit an all-time high of 11.2% nationwide, marking a 3% jump from the previous episode.

The drama is now officially the No.1 show in its time slot across all channels and the most-watched Saturday and weekly mini-series.

In the metropolitan area, it recorded 11% ratings, peaking at 12.3%, while the 2049 viewership rating (ages 20-49) reached 2.9%, solidifying its massive popularity.

In this episode, Seo Dong-joo (Park Hyung Sik), Yeom Jang-seon (Heo Joon-ho), and Heo Il-do (Lee Hae-young) clashed in a high-stakes battle of greed and deception. Yeom Jang-seon’s merciless nature was on full display as he didn’t hesitate to take lives, leaving Seo Dong-joo completely shaken.

Previously, Yeom Jang-seon suspected Seo Dong-joo was faking amnesia and abducted him for brutal torture, hoping to extract the password to a 2 trillion won hacked account. Despite facing unbearable pain, Seo Dong-joo remained silent, making it seem like he had truly lost his memory. Realizing this, Yeom Jang-seon and Heo Il-do changed their approach, with Heo Il-do ultimately stepping in to “rescue” him.

Feigning concern, Yeom Jang-seon embraced a battered Seo Dong-joo, while Seo Dong-joo thanked both men for saving him—but was he really grateful, or was he playing along? With uncertainty surrounding his memory, Yeom Jang-seon and Heo Il-do continued to test him carefully.

As tensions rose, Heo Il-do pressured Yeom Jang-seon, demanding half of the 2 trillion won slush fund, warning, “You could lose everything, so it’s better to give up half.” His sudden boldness left Yeom Jang-seon uneasy.

At the same time, Seo Dong-joo also seemed to test Heo Il-do, possibly hinting at a hidden agenda. Late at night, he wandered into Heo Il-do’s private training area, provoking him with a chilling question:
“Did you shoot at me to kill me, CEO?”

Feeling cornered, Yeom Jang-seon decided to force Seo Dong-joo’s memory to return using a shocking, unforgivable method—killing his sister.

In a devastating scene, Yeom Jang-seon orchestrated the murder of Seo Dong-joo’s sister, Sister Agnes (Han Ji-hye), right before his eyes. As he watched his beloved sister die in a tragic car accident, memories flooded back into his mind, hinting that his memory loss might have been broken.

The episode ended with Seo Dong-joo in shock, while Yeom Jang-seon smirked and declared:
"If your memory disappeared due to shock, I’ll bring it back with an even bigger shock!"

With Seo Dong-joo’s rage and pain reaching their peak, viewers are now eagerly anticipating his full-fledged retaliation against Yeom Jang-seon.

The gripping performances and intense storytelling have fans on the edge of their seats, waiting to see how Seo Dong-joo will strike back.

Buried Hearts airs every Friday at 10 PM and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST. Don’t miss out.

  • Lee Kyung Gyu secretly helped Hong Jin Kyung debut on TV and she didn’t even know for years

Lee Kyung Gyu's star-making influence goes beyond Kang Ho Dong, as Hong Jin Kyung shares how he helped her kickstart her career.

On the April 24 episode of KBS 2TV’s Problem Child in House, legendary comedian Lee Kyung Gyu appeared as a guest—and a touching story from the past was revealed.

Hong Jin Kyung surprised everyone when she said, “He’s the teacher for all of us. Personally, he’s the one who helped me debut.” She even pinned a carnation flower on his chest to show her gratitude.

Lee Kyung Gyu smiled and said, “I still remember when Hong Jin Kyung walked up the stairs onto the stage for the first time.”

Hong Jin Kyung then shared her journey to becoming a star. “I joined a supermodel contest, but only the top 3 winners were noticed in broadcasting. I got a special prize, so I had no chance to be on TV."

She continued, "At first, I was just a backup for a show. But somehow, I became a regular the next week. I never knew why."

She added, "I thought the PD gave me a shot. But then one day, I randomly met Kyung Gyu sunbae, and he told me it was actually him who recommended me.”

Kim Sook asked with a smile, “So Kyung Gyu sunbae said nice things about you to the PD?”

Lee Kyung Gyu playfully replied, “Don’t say it in such a childish way,” making everyone laugh.

He then explained more seriously, “The show was Scoop TV Entertainment, and I was pretty much the main MC. When Jin Kyung showed up, I saw her determination and passion."

He added, "While others didn’t seem serious, she really stood out. I told the PD, ‘She seems unique. Why not keep her on the show?’”

Kim Jong Kook chimed in, “So if the main MC said that, doesn’t that mean you basically got her in?”

That made Lee Kyung Gyu happy. He grinned and replied, “Exactly! You speak well. Be like him!”

He added, “After that, Jin Kyung’s career took off. She started doing shows with Lee Young Ja and just kept going.”

Fans are now calling Lee Kyung Gyu not only a top MC, but also a quiet star-maker behind the scenes!
