Lee Nak Joon, the original author of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, is hitting back at false rumors about his background, making it clear that he is a proud South Korean citizen.
On February 14, Lee Nak Joon, who wrote the web novel that inspired The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, took to the Doctor Friends YouTube channel to address the growing speculation in a fiery statement.
“I can’t believe I even have to say this,” he began. “For the past month, I’ve been seeing these ridiculous comments, and today, I’ve finally had enough.”
Recently, some viewers left comments on the Doctor Friends YouTube channel, which is run by Lee Nak Joon, Woo Chang Yoon, and Oh Jin Seung, questioning their nationality.

Some even accused them of being Chinese foreigners (Huaqiao), writing, “Is it true that two of you are Chinese foreigners?” and “Was this actually ‘Chinese Friends’ all along?”
Lee Nak Joon firmly shut down the claims, stating, “We are not Chinese foreigners. All three of us served as military doctors together. As South Korean citizens, we fulfilled our military duty. Jin Seung and I served at the Aerospace Medical Center, while Chang Yoon served in the Army’s 7th Division.”
He continued, “Both of my grandfathers were Korean War veterans. My paternal grandfather was a student soldier, and my maternal grandfather was an artillery officer who fought alongside U.S. forces against North Korean and Chinese troops during the 1.4 Retreat (Battle of Chosin Reservoir).”
Clearly frustrated, he added, “I have no idea where these rumors are coming from. Even as I write this, I don’t understand what I’m being accused of.”
