MAMAMOO’s Wheein opened up about the ups and downs of being a free agent.
On the February 14 episode of KBS2’s The Seasons – Lee Young Ji’s Rainbow, Wheein appeared as a guest and shared her honest thoughts on going solo after parting ways with her former agency.
She revealed, "Now that I’m a free agent, I feel like a free spirit. Thankfully, many companies have reached out to me, but I want to take my time and make the right choice."
Wheein then spoke about the biggest pros and cons of her new career path. "The best part? The money! Since all the earnings come straight to me, that’s a huge plus."
But she admitted that being independent isn’t always easy. "The hard part is that I have to handle everything myself. Even small things, like renting a car, aren’t as convenient anymore."

When asked what she’s looking for in a new agency, she explained, "I want a company that respects me and understands work-life balance. I love making music, but proper rest is just as important. Before, I didn’t have much time to rest, so I really value that now."
Wheein also made a confident pitch to potential agencies, saying, "I can do all genres. I don’t limit myself—I have a unique voice, I specialize in R&B, I even rap sometimes, and I perform a lot of band music too."
With a shy smile, she added, "I take good care of my staff and value personal connections. I’ve been working with the same people for 8 to 10 years, and they appreciate that about me."
Fans are excited to see where Wheein will go next and what new music she’ll bring in the future!
