Kwon Sang Woo’s Hitman 2 and Song Hye Kyo’s Dark Nuns are dominating the box office this Lunar New Year holiday season, with both films showing impressive success.
On February 2nd, the Korean Film Council released the latest box office data, revealing that Hitman 2 took the top spot once again, attracting a massive 177,133 viewers the previous day. This marks the sixth consecutive day the action-comedy film has held the #1 position.
Hitman 2, starring Kwon Sang Woo, follows the story of Jun, a former popular screenwriter who finds himself caught up in a terrorist attack that mirrors his latest webtoon. The film has now reached 1,831,576 viewers and is set to break the 2 million mark soon.
Meanwhile, Song Hye Kyo’s Dark Nuns is also making waves at the box office. It brought in 96,045 viewers, pushing its total to 1,363,861. The film is quickly approaching the crucial break-even point of 1.6 million viewers.
Taking the third spot on the box office was Secret: Untold Melody, starring EXO's D.O (Doh Kyung Soo) and Won Jin Ah. The film earned 63,004 viewers, bringing its total to 298,298.
With the Lunar New Year still in full swing, it’s clear that these films are attracting large audiences, setting the stage for even bigger box office numbers in the coming days.
