• BTS's Jimin Makes History Again, Like Crazy Becomes the Only Korean Solo Song to Top the Billboard Hot 100 – See Why This is a Big Deal

BTS's Jimin is making waves again, and this time, it’s for breaking a huge record on the Billboard Hot 100!

On January 21st (local time), Billboard took a moment to celebrate the unprecedented achievement set by Jimin. In a feature about non-English songs reaching the top 10 on the 'Hot 100,' Billboard highlighted Jimin's hit track "Like Crazy" from his solo album FACE.

Billboard revealed that in its 67-year history, only 39 non-English songs have ever made it to the top 10 on the Hot 100, and just 10 of them have ever claimed the number one spot. Among these, BTS's "Life Goes On," the BTS and Coldplay collaboration "My Universe," and Jimin’s "Like Crazy" are the only Korean songs to have topped the chart.

What’s even more impressive? Jimin’s "Like Crazy" is the ONLY Korean solo song in history to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. This makes Jimin the first Korean solo artist ever to claim this spot, cementing his place as a true superstar and putting BTS in the same league as legendary groups like The Beatles and The Supremes with multiple number-one hits!

Thanks to this massive achievement, Jimin has earned global recognition. American media outlet SINGERSROOM named him the "Most Famous Singer in Korea," while Interview 365 picked him as one of their top 10 "Good People" in their 33rd edition. Plus, he was included in The New York Times' list of "20 Things That Happened for the First Time in 2023," which only highlights how big his success truly is.

But Jimin's achievements don't stop there. In the same week he topped the Hot 100, he also claimed the number-one spot on the Billboard Artist 100 chart. He’s now one of only nine Korean artists to ever do this – and the only solo artist among them.

Jimin is proving time and time again that he’s an international powerhouse, and fans can’t wait to see what he does next.

  • Kim Soo Hyun prevention law heads to National Assembly after petition reaches 50,000 signatures

A petition pushing for stronger laws against sexual offenses involving minors, known as the "Kim Soo Hyun Prevention Law", has gained significant attention and is now on its way to the National Assembly.

The petition, titled “Proposal to raise the age for statutory rape of minors and strengthen punishment, also known as the 'Kim Soo Hyun Prevention Law'” was posted on March 31 on the National Petition page.

As of April 9, it has already gained over 54,000 signatures, surpassing the 50,000 signature requirement for it to be reviewed in the National Assembly.

The petition calls for the age limit for statutory rape of minors to be increased from the current age range of 13 to 16 years old to 13 to 19 years old, as well as for harsher punishments for offenders.

The push for this law comes after accusations that actor Kim Soo Hyun was involved with the late Kim Sae Ron, who was a minor at the time of their alleged relationship.

Due to the large number of signatures, the petition will now be reviewed by the National Assembly, where lawmakers will decide whether to bring it to a larger discussion.

Petitions that gather over 50,000 signatures within 30 days are transferred to the relevant committee, and the National Assembly has 90 days to decide if it will go to the plenary session.

Meanwhile, Kim Sae Ron’s family has made serious allegations, claiming that Kim Soo Hyun and his former agency, Gold Medalist, were involved in her tragic death.

They say Kim Soo Hyun had a relationship with her while she was still a minor and that she endured financial pressure due to debt from her former agency.

In response, Kim Soo Hyun held a press conference on March 31, where he tearfully denied the accusations and clarified his position.

Despite his emotional plea, public opinion has largely remained unchanged. Kim Soo Hyun also announced he would be filing a defamation lawsuit against Kim Sae Ron’s family and the YouTubers involved, seeking 12 billion won in damages.

The legal and social implications of the case continue to develop, with the National Assembly now preparing to address the petition and potential legal reforms.
