Broadcast personality Hong Jin Kyung shared a hilarious yet shocking story about how she almost became estranged from her daughter because of BTS member Jin, revealing the drama that unfolded between them.
On January 21st, a video was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'BANGTANTV,' where Jin opened up about his plans for the New Year.
He said, “It’s not a grateful magpie, but a grateful Seokjin. I’m planning to give gifts to my acquaintances,” before heading to visit the home of his helper for the day.
To celebrate the occasion, Jin packed lunchboxes as gifts for those he was thankful for and prepared the food with the help of his assistant — who, to everyone’s surprise, turned out to be none other than Hong Jin Kyung!
Jin thanked her, saying, “I heard you prepared a lot today,” and gave her some homemade liquor as a thank-you gift.
At that moment, Hong Jin Kyung shared a funny story about her daughter, revealing that she’s a huge ARMY (BTS’s fan club).
Jin jokingly asked, "Should I sign something on the wall?" to which Hong Jin Kyung laughed and replied, “That would probably increase the house value.”
But the real surprise came when Hong Jin Kyung admitted, “So, I kept Seokjin’s visit completely secret today. If my daughter finds out, she might faint. I didn’t tell her.”
She continued, “If my daughter knows Seokjin visited, she could sever ties with me. She might even want to cut off the parent-child relationship.”
This funny confession had everyone laughing. A flustered Jin jokingly responded, “Usually, people don’t sever ties over something like this. I hope you trust your daughter,” stepping in as her daughter’s spokesperson.
Earlier, on January 9th, Hong Jin Kyung shared an update about her daughter on her own YouTube channel, revealing how a fight broke out between them.
She explained, “Yesterday, I had a big fight with Rael. The person Rael loves most came to our house, but I didn’t tell her.” Hong Jin Kyung admitted she kept Jin’s visit a secret because she was worried her daughter would be upset.
The production team couldn’t help but respond, “She must have been really upset,” as Hong Jin Kyung laughed, adding, “There was a poster of him in the house. While signing it, he wrote, 'Rael’s older brother came by. Please forgive your mom.'"
When Rael came home, she was furious, not even eating breakfast before storming out. Hong Jin Kyung later tried to call her daughter, asking, “Are you still upset?” to which Rael replied, “It’s not just still, it’s forever,” making everyone laugh. “The betrayal and all these feelings hit me all at once, and I still can’t forget it,” she added dramatically.
Hong Jin Kyung reassured her, saying, “But Seokjin gave you pocket money and even left you a signature,” but Rael, still upset, responded, “I want to see it with my own eyes.”
Hong Jin Kyung apologized, but her daughter firmly said, “I won’t accept your apology. I won’t let go of my feelings,” causing even more laughter.
In the end, Rael asked Hong Jin Kyung to send a voice message to Seokjin, saying, “To my most beloved Seokjin oppa, thank you for your hard work in the military. I will live my life as an ARMY forever. I love you so much,” showing just how much she adores him.
