BTS's Jimin is breaking records once again! His solo track "Who" from his second album has just hit a major milestone in Canada, making history as the first K-pop solo song to earn its second Platinum certification.
On January 17, "Who" was awarded Platinum Single Certification by Music Canada, formerly known as the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA). The song reached Platinum status after surpassing 80,000 units sold in just six months since its release on July 19, 2024. This achievement comes on top of Jimin’s growing collection of accomplishments, marking a huge milestone for K-pop soloists.
Music Canada’s certification system takes into account digital downloads, streaming counts, and physical sales to determine the number of units sold. A song must surpass 40,000 units for Gold, 80,000 for Platinum, and 160,000 for Double Platinum.
Earlier, Jimin’s first solo album FACE and its title track "Like Crazy" earned Platinum certification, making it the first Korean solo song to achieve Platinum status since Psy's iconic "Gangnam Style." Now, "Who" joins "Like Crazy" in making Jimin the first and only Korean artist to have earned Platinum status with two solo songs—both without any collaborations!
But Jimin’s success doesn’t stop there! In the U.S., "Like Crazy" and "Who" together have sold over 2 million units, qualifying Jimin for Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He is now the first and only K-pop solo artist to ever achieve Double Platinum status with two songs in the U.S.
And in the UK, "Who" hit 200,000 units sold by November 2024, earning Silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI)—the fastest-ever K-pop solo artist to reach this milestone in the UK.
Jimin’s global popularity continues to soar as he sets new records and breaks barriers for K-pop solo artists worldwide.
