  • Kwon Sang Woo Gets Real About His Liver Surgery and the Heartbreaking Reason Behind It

Kwon Sang Woo has opened up about his recent liver surgery, revealing personal details for the first time.

On January 20th, Kwon Sang Woo, along with Hitman 2 co-stars Lee Yi Kyung and Hwang Woo Seul Hye, appeared on the YouTube channel Jjanhan Hyung Shin Dong Yup. During the video, the conversation took an unexpected turn when Kwon Sang Woo shared a life-changing experience.

While Lee Yi Kyung took a hangover remedy, he joked, "Shin Dong Yup hyung, do you not get hangovers?" To which Shin Dong Yup responded, "I don’t usually."

That’s when Kwon Sang Woo confessed, "I used to be the type to vomit after drinking. But after I started enjoying drinking, I stopped vomiting."

He continued, "This is the first time I’m confessing this, but the reason Hitman 2 was split into two parts is because I get a regular check-up every year and they found a hemangioma in my liver."

He went on to share an emotional story: "My father passed away from liver cancer at an early age." He recalled the doctor’s advice, saying, "The doctor told me, 'If it grows over 10cm, you'll need surgery, so if your schedule allows, remove it once it reaches 6cm.'"

Despite the seriousness, Kwon Sang Woo didn’t think much of it at first since his family was in the U.S., so he went ahead with the surgery alone.

Kwon Sang Woo revealed, "I had the surgery before shooting Hitman 2. When they showed me the pictures, they had removed a piece of my liver the size of my palm." His revelation left everyone shocked.

But the story didn’t end there. Kwon Sang Woo shared how the doctor reassured him, saying, "Mr. Kwon, your liver is really big. Even if we remove 30%, it’s still the size of a normal person’s liver." He admitted that being alone in the hospital while his family was abroad made him feel incredibly lonely.

Despite everything, Kwon Sang Woo pushed forward, saying, "I recovered and immediately started filming Hitman 2." Lee Yi Kyung, hearing this for the first time, praised him, saying, "There must have been fatigue, but you still put in the same energy."

Kwon Sang Woo's bravery and determination in the face of such a challenging time truly left a lasting impression on everyone.
