• Dex Opens Up About the 270 Million KRW Rental Scam That’s Still Haunting Him – No Mercy from the System

YouTuber and broadcaster Dex (Kim Jin Young) continues to face the serious consequences of a devastating rental scam that has left him struggling for over a year.

On January 13th, Dex uploaded a new video on his YouTube channel, where he looked back on 2024 and shared his plans for 2025.

After taking a one-month break at the end of last year, Dex announced that he’d be focusing more on YouTube in 2025 with a relaxed schedule.

He plans to explore themes of travel, challenges, and experiences, mentioning his interest in horseback riding and shooting.

He jokingly said, "For me to take on challenges, there has to be an element of risk involved. I think it comes from a lack of dopamine."

Dex also expressed his desire to create documentary-style content about his UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) colleagues, who now work as firefighters or in the maritime police special forces. He wants to showcase their joys, sorrows, and everyday lives.

As for future collaborations, Dex mentioned working with gay YouTuber Kim Ttolttol and possibly creating content like Dex’s Parenting Diary.

He explained that while he used to dislike babies, he now finds them cute and is open to the idea of exploring parenting content, even though he’s not planning to get married anytime soon.

However, the most serious topic that Dex touched on was the ongoing rental scam that continues to haunt him.

In a recent update, Dex admitted, "I’ll cover it soon. It’s been about a year and a half, and it still hasn’t been resolved. I’ll bring my lawyer in to discuss it soon."

He went on to explain, "It became quite an issue, and a lot of articles have been written. I thought there would be some progress with HUG (Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation), but of course, that’s not the case. There’s been no mercy. I’m going through the same time and procedures, and it’s been really tough."

In July 2023, Dex revealed he was scammed out of 270 million KRW in a rental fraud case. Despite taking out a loan for 90% of the deposit and having insurance coverage through HUG, he’s still waiting for a resolution, which has caused him significant stress and frustration.

Dex’s fans are rooting for him as he faces this ongoing challenge, hoping that 2025 will bring a breakthrough in his tough situation.
