Actor Cha Sun Woo is starting the year strong with his first major project of 2025! He has been officially cast as the lead in the upcoming short-form drama Sonny's Rivalry.
On January 14, it was announced that Cha Sun Woo will take on the role of Son Jin Woo in this exciting new drama, which will be released on the short drama platform "Shortcha" and the global streaming service Showtime.
Sonny's Rivalry is a fascinating story about a man named Son Jin Woo, whose life takes a surprising turn after meeting a classmate who shares the same name. This encounter leads to a shocking soul-swapping incident, where their lives become intertwined in unexpected ways. The 50-episode series will follow their journey, exploring how they navigate their new lives and the challenges they face with their swapped identities.
Cha Sun Woo will play Son Jin Woo, an ordinary man who finally fulfills his dream of joining SB Games. However, things take an interesting turn when he reunites with his high school rival, another Son Jin Woo (played by Baek Joo Ho).
This rival is the son of the founder of SB Games, and he seems to have it all – wealth, power, and privilege.
Cha Sun Woo will show off his acting range by portraying both a humble, hardworking man and his rich, entitled counterpart.
