Will 'When the Stars Gossip' Recover From Its Shocking 2% Ratings? 500-Billion KRW Drama Struggles to Gain Viewership
When the Stars Gossip is facing a tough battle as its ratings continue to decline, leaving many to wonder if it can recover.
Despite its massive 500 billion KRW budget and a year-long production process, the drama’s viewership has been steadily dropping since its premiere.
The first two episodes of the show had relatively modest ratings, with 3.3% for episode one and 3.9% for episode two.
However, the third episode, which aired on January 11th, saw a sharp drop to just 2.2%, according to Nielsen Korea.
At this rate, the drama is on the verge of falling below 1% in viewership, which would be a serious blow for the production.
The drama’s star-studded cast, featuring Gong Hyo Jin and Lee Min Ho, hasn’t been enough to stop the slide in ratings.
As the show tries to maintain its momentum, the question remains: Can When the Stars Gossip bounce back, or will its viewership continue to sink?
With such a big budget and high expectations, viewers are still holding out hope for a recovery, but the drama’s future is uncertain unless ratings start climbing.
Song Joong Ki Shares His Life as a Hands-On Dad, “I Bathed My Baby Every Day for 200 Days, Holding My Daughter Feels So Special”
Actor Song Joong Ki opened up about his parenting journey, sharing heartwarming stories about his two children and life as a father.
On the January 12 episode of JTBC's Please Take Care of My Refrigerator Since 2014, Song Joong Ki appeared with Lee Hee Joon to promote their movie Bogotá. During the show, Song Joong Ki shared touching details about his growing family.
The actor, who welcomed his second child in November last year, expressed his joy, saying, "It still doesn’t feel completely real. Our second child was born just two weeks ago (as of filming), and I’m just so happy. It’s amazing."
He added, "Our kids are close in age, but holding my daughter feels different. She snuggles in so warmly. That feeling is unforgettable, right?" The hosts, Kim Sung Joo and Ahn Jung Hwan, couldn’t help but agree.
When asked about his first child’s milestones, Song Joong Ki shared, “He’s just starting to talk now. It’s so adorable when he speaks. He says, ‘Good night, Dad. I love you,’ in Korean. And when he wants to be carried, he says, ‘Collo,’ which means ‘neck’ in Italian. It’s his way of asking to be held.”
Song Joong Ki also talked about raising a multilingual child with his wife, Katy. "Since Katy lived in Italy, our first child started speaking Italian, and I couldn’t understand him at all. I thought, ‘This is serious.’ So now, I’m focused on learning languages, and my wife is learning Korean. Sometimes, our child speaks the Korean I taught him.”
He added, “Katy speaks English, Italian, Spanish, and French, and she’s learning Korean. I’m working on English and Italian. We’re balancing our time between Korea and Tuscany, Italy.”
One of the most heartwarming moments he shared was his dedication to bathing his child every single day for 200 days. “I felt like I had to do it. My mom taught me that. When I bathe my baby, the way they stare at me is so touching. I feel accomplished when I bathe them well and tuck them into bed at the end of the day.”
Looking ahead, Song Joong Ki revealed his dreams for the future with his children. “I want to take baths together, play sports I love, and go to Hanwha Eagles games wearing matching uniforms,” he said with excitement.
Lee Hee Joon, who joined the discussion, shared his own parenting story about teaching his child to ride a bike. He expressed regret about missing the moment his child learned to ride without training wheels, saying, “I trained them for three years, but my wife took the wheels off while I was filming. She sent me a picture, and I felt so sad.”
In response, Song Joong Ki said, “I’ve learned a lot today,” showing his appreciation for the advice.
Fans couldn’t help but swoon over Song Joong Ki’s loving words and his dedication as a father, proving once again why he’s admired both on and off the screen.
