Actress Song Hye Kyo has once again been recognized for her consistent and sincere patriotic efforts over the past 14 years.
Professor Seo Kyung Duk of Sungshin Women’s University recently praised the star for her meaningful work, including rejecting a major advertisement offer tied to war crimes.
Professor Seo shared on social media, “I’ve received many messages after people saw me and Hye Kyo on You Quiz on the Block. It’s been an honor to work with her on such meaningful projects for the past 14 years.”
Their efforts include donating Korean-language guides to top museums and galleries worldwide, like New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto.
Professor Seo added, “Together, we’ve also donated Korean-language guides, signboards, and relief works to 37 sites tied to Korea’s independence movement overseas.”
One of the most touching moments he highlighted was when Song Hye Kyo turned down a modeling contract with Mitsubishi Motors in China due to its ties to war crimes.
“At the time, she told me, ‘I’m working on projects to honor Korea’s independence activists with you, so it’s only natural for me to decline.’ Her sincerity and consistency have always impressed me,” he said.
Professor Seo also revealed that they are preparing a special project this year to mark the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation. “Please look forward to what we’re working on together,” he teased.
Meanwhile, Song Hye Kyo is set to return to the big screen with her new film Dark Nuns, which premieres on January 24th.
