• NewJeans Shatters Records Again, Tops K-Pop Female Album Sales for Two Consecutive Years – Here's Why They're Unstoppable

NewJeans has once again proven they're the queens of K-pop as they top the album sales charts for two consecutive years, dominating the K-pop female artist category!

According to Circle Chart’s 2024 Album Sales Review released on January 10, NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) sold a jaw-dropping 3,098,275 albums in 2024. This earned them the No.1 spot among all K-pop female artists, accounting for a massive 11.4% of total album sales in the category.

What’s behind this incredible feat? In 2024, NewJeans dropped two mega hits: the double single How Sweet in May and their Japanese debut single Supernatural in June. Both tracks hit “million-seller” status, with How Sweet selling over 1.24 million copies and Supernatural surpassing 1.3 million copies! These two albums, along with solid sales from earlier works like their debut album New Jeans, the single album OMG, and the second EP Get Up, played a huge role in their sales success.

But it’s not just about physical albums—NewJeans is absolutely killing it in the digital world too! In the 2024 Circle Chart Global K-pop category, they had an impressive 13 songs ranking, including chart-toppers like How Sweet, Super Shy, Ditto, OMG, ETA, and Hype Boy. They also had 11 songs in the digital category and 10 in streaming, showing their dominance across all platforms.

On top of that, NewJeans made a major splash on Melon’s 2024 Domestic Year-End Chart, with eight of their songs making the cut. But that’s not all—Supernatural earned second place on Melon’s Overseas Year-End Chart, a remarkable achievement that only NewJeans has managed to pull off in the world of K-pop!

NewJeans isn’t just winning hearts with their music—they’re sweeping up awards left and right! At the 2024 KGMA and AAA 2024, they took home multiple grand prizes. And in Japan, they won the prestigious “Outstanding Work Award” at the Japan Record Awards, marking their second consecutive year winning the honor!

It’s clear that NewJeans is on top of the K-pop world, and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

  • G-Dragon’s concert chaos—some fans caught smoking, littering, and rushing the stage despite security warnings

G-Dragon’s highly anticipated solo concert was overshadowed by fan misbehavior, causing frustration among attendees.

On March 29 and 30, G-Dragon finally met fans at the G-Dragon 2025 World Tour [Übermensch] in Korea, Presented by Coupang Play at Goyang Sports Complex. While the event marked his grand return after eight years, some fans’ reckless actions sparked controversy.

Right after the concert, online forums were flooded with complaints, with photos exposing the chaos.

One major issue was a Chinese couple seen smoking e-cigarettes inside the venue. A frustrated fan shared, “They were vaping during the concert. Security told them to stop, but they acted like they didn’t understand. As soon as security left, they did it again. I’m still furious.”

Fans also criticized the excessive littering, as the venue floor was covered in plastic packaging and boxes from official merchandise, making it look like a dumping ground.

Additionally, when G-Dragon moved closer to the audience, some fans rushed forward in a dangerous stampede.

Netizens expressed concern, saying, “If one person rushes, others follow. This is really dangerous.” Another wrote, “If you act like this, don’t call yourself a fan.”

Some pointed fingers at Chinese fans for the disorderly conduct, while others argued that Korean fans also contributed to the chaos.

Despite the issues, the concert was still a meaningful event, with G-Dragon donating ₩300 million (about $225,000) from the proceeds to wildfire relief efforts.

However, problems like poor sound quality and weather-related delays left mixed impressions on fans.
