• Park Sung Hoon Tearfully Explains His Side of the Shocking 'Squid Game 2' Instagram Post Controversy

Actor Park Sung Hoon, who is set to appear in Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2, has finally addressed the controversy surrounding an adult video (AV) parody image he posted online.

During an interview held at a café in Seoul on January 8th, the actor shared his thoughts and issued a heartfelt apology.

“I sincerely apologize for causing discomfort and concern to many people due to my grave mistake,” Park began, holding back tears.

He explained, “The Squid Game team worked incredibly hard, and I feel deeply sorry for any harm this incident may have caused to their efforts.”

    What Happened?

On August 30, Park Sung Hoon shared an image on his Instagram Story that parodied Squid Game, showing nude women in tracksuits similar to those from the show. The post was quickly deleted, but it sparked widespread backlash.

Park’s agency, BH Entertainment, explained that the actor had received the image via DM (direct message) and saved it to forward to a company representative. However, it was accidentally uploaded to his Story instead.

Addressing the situation, Park said, “I was preparing for my schedule when I came across the image in a DM. It was during the first week of the series’ release, and we were discussing viewers’ reactions. I was shocked when I saw it and tried to forward it, but I accidentally uploaded it instead.”

“I panicked as soon as I realized what happened,” Park shared. “I immediately contacted my team, deleted the post, and discussed the situation. I did not watch the video itself, and I don’t own a private account—only my current one.”

The actor admitted he’s been reflecting on his mistake. “Although it was unintentional, it was wrong. I’ve spent the past days deeply regretting and reflecting on my actions, and I’m still reflecting even now. I will be more careful moving forward to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”

Park also clarified some misunderstandings, explaining that his agency issued their initial statement based on incomplete information.

“I was just as confused about what happened. There may have been a communication error that caused more misunderstanding,” he said.

When asked about reaching out to Squid Game director Hwang Dong Hyuk, Park revealed he hadn’t had the chance to speak with him directly.

“I tried calling him immediately but couldn’t get through. I thought it would be better to wait until things calmed down before speaking with him,” Park explained, adding that his agency communicated his apology to the director.

The actor concluded with regret, saying, “Looking back, I should have warned about the issue verbally instead of sharing the image. It’s something I deeply regret.”

Fans are now watching closely to see how Park Sung Hoon moves forward from this controversy as he prepares for the highly anticipated release of Squid Game Season 2.
