Actor Park Sung Hoon has shared some jaw-dropping behind-the-scenes stories from Squid Game 2 that fans won't want to miss!
On January 7th, Park Sung Hoon appeared in a YouTube video where he opened up about various scenes featuring his character, Hyeon Joo, from the hit Netflix series. He revealed details that gave fans a closer look at what went on behind the camera.
One interesting tidbit was about his preparation for the game scenes. "I didn’t know how to tie my hair, so I remember practicing a lot before the shoot," he said, showing how much attention he paid to the smallest details.
Talking about his co-star Kim Si Eun, he recalled, “When I was filming with Young Mi, I told her I looked like a wet Shih Tzu. She’s so cute, like a puppy." His playful comment showed the bond between the two during filming.
Park Sung Hoon also shared a fun moment from the iconic 5 vs 6 match, where his character leads the game of "kicking the top."
He said, "I was in charge of kicking the top. But it was hard to kick it with my foot fixed. So, the top would only come out by me pretending to kick it while the staff would lift it from below. But it turned out perfectly as if I really kicked it, so I was satisfied while monitoring the footage."
He humorously added, "Director, I’m disappointed!" after learning that the scene would be shown through the reactions of other actors.
Another behind-the-scenes gem involved the spinning top scene, where Park Sung Hoon had to wind and spin the top.
He explained, "Winding the top wasn't easy. But Lee Byung Hun senior was really good at winding and spinning it smoothly in one go. He and I were in the same office, so when I told our manager, he said, 'Sung Hoon, when Byung Hun was younger, that was the only game he had to play!' We laughed so hard."
But the most shocking moment came during the intense 5 vs 6 game. Park Sung Hoon’s character slaps Chae Guk Hee’s character, saying, "If you give up, you'll die by my hands, not by the gods."
He admitted, "Actually, I thought I was just pretending to slap her that day, but the director asked me to really slap her once. It was so nerve-wracking, but I think it took two or three tries to get it right. After I slapped her, I almost kneeled down and apologized."
Fans are now even more eager to rewatch Squid Game 2, knowing what went on behind the scenes to create such iconic moments!
