Lee Jung Jae might be making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and fans are buzzing with excitement!
The Squid Game star is once again at the center of rumors suggesting he could be joining the MCU. According to Comicbookmovie.com, Lee Jung Jae, who gained international fame for his role in Squid Game Season 2 and appeared in Disney+’s Echo Light, might have a role in an upcoming Marvel project.
The report from Comicbookmovie.com reveals that sources, including Scooper MTTSH, are speculating that Lee Jung Jae could take on a role in the MCU, although it’s still unclear which character he might play. What’s exciting is that Marvel Studios' COO Kevin Feige is known for reaching out to actors without a specific character in mind. This means Lee Jung Jae could potentially pick from a variety of roles—whether a hero or villain.
This isn’t the first time the rumor mill has buzzed about Lee Jung Jae and Marvel. In 2022, reports started circulating that he had been in talks with Marvel Studios for a role. At the time, editor Daniel Richmond posted on social media that Lee Jung Jae was in discussions for a possible MCU role, adding even more fuel to the fire.
If Lee Jung Jae does join the MCU, he would become the fourth Korean actor to do so, following Lee Shi Hun (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Ma Dong Seok (Eternals), and Park Seo Joon (The Marvels). The idea of Lee Jung Jae stepping into the MCU has fans excited, especially after rumors in 2021 suggested he could be a contender for the main villain role in Shang-Chi 2 or possibly portray Mister Negative in the Spider-Man series. However, his agency has yet to comment on the reports.
Currently, Lee Jung Jae is receiving worldwide attention for his return as Seong Gi Hoon in Squid Game Season 2. The series, which dropped on December 26, has been a massive hit, topping Netflix's global charts for over a week. Squid Game Season 2 has earned high praise, and some estimates suggest its success could generate up to 1.5 trillion KRW in revenue, though Netflix has denied that figure.
In the new season, Gi Hoon (Lee Jung Jae) seeks revenge and faces off against Frontman (Lee Byung Hun), with a fresh, intense game beginning. As Lee Jung Jae continues to shine in Squid Game, the possibility of him joining the MCU only adds to his growing appeal in the entertainment world. Fans are eager to see what’s next for the actor!
