BTS member Jimin has done it again, setting a groundbreaking record in the U.S.!
On December 27th, Jimin’s title track “Who” from his second solo album MUSE earned a massive achievement.
The song surpassed 2 million units sold in the United States, officially receiving the prestigious double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
This incredible milestone makes "Who" the fastest K-pop solo song to reach double platinum status, accomplishing the feat in just 160 days after its release, even with Jimin being on a break for his military service. His agency formally requested the certification.
What makes this even more remarkable? Jimin is the first and only K-pop solo artist to have two songs with double platinum certifications. His first solo album FACE also achieved this when the title track “Like Crazy” surpassed 2 million units last year.
Released on July 19, "Who" quickly made waves, debuting at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remaining a fan favorite.
The song’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down, as it currently sits at No. 47 on the December 28 chart, marking 22 weeks on the Hot 100. This makes it the longest-charting solo song by a Korean artist, surpassing even Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
On Spotify U.S., “Who” continues to dominate, becoming the first-ever Korean solo song to top the U.S. Daily Top Song chart on August 19.
This record still holds strong, highlighting Jimin's incredible appeal in the States. “Who” also made waves on the U.S. Spotify Year-End chart, where it became the first and only Korean solo song to achieve such an honor.
By December 27, the song had already surpassed 236 million streams on Spotify U.S., setting a historic milestone for K-pop. With Jimin’s MUSE album also crossing 250 million streams on U.S. Spotify, he has solidified his position as the first K-pop solo artist to achieve such a feat.
Jimin’s dominance in the U.S. market, affectionately known as “Jimmerica,” continues to grow, proving that he’s not just a K-pop sensation but a true global solo artist.
