• Park Jinyoung Reveals Heartfelt Thoughts on Military Life, GOT7 Comeback, and Why Freedom Means Everything to Him!

GOT7's Park Jinyoung is opening up about his military service and his thoughts on life after returning to civilian life.

Recently, the idol and actor graced the cover of The Star magazine’s 2025 New Year issue, where he gave fans a glimpse into his unique charm with a winter-themed photo shoot, featuring dry branches and biting into a bright red apple, showing off his youthful yet mature look.

After finishing his military service, Park Jinyoung reflected on the experience and shared how he felt about his discharge.

“It wasn’t easy waiting for a year and a half. But I’m really grateful to everyone who sent messages of support,” he said. “There were tough moments, but spending time with my fellow soldiers felt like a healing moment. As a Korean man, I’m proud to have completed this chapter.”

Looking back on his time in the military, Park Jinyoung explained how it helped him grow. “I learned that there are so many different people in the world, and it’s okay not to follow a set path. I used to have a very rigid mindset, but after the military, I realized it’s fine to think more flexibly about life and not be stuck on just one way of living.”

Now that he’s back to his busy career, Park Jinyoung is hard at work. “I’m filming a drama right now and preparing for GOT7’s album. There’s also a drama I filmed before my enlistment that will be airing soon, so I’ve been really busy,” he shared.

His upcoming drama The Witch marks his return to acting, where he plays a character who risks his life to protect his loved ones. When asked what he’d risk his life for, he answered, “My family and my loved ones.”

He also shared his thoughts on love, saying, “Love is like air. It’s invisible and intangible, but we can’t live without it. Love takes many forms—family love, friendship love, and romantic love. Even though it’s unseen, it connects us all and helps us live.”

Regarding GOT7’s upcoming reunion after nearly three years, Park Jinyoung said, “It’s been a while since we were all together. It felt like the members sent me back to my early 20s. It’s exciting to see how much we’ve grown, and we’re doing our own music now. I’m really proud of that. Even though group activities are limited, I’m excited to make memories with our fans until the end.”

He also joked, “It feels like we’re making an album, not to gather, but to gather and make an album.” He added, “All the members wrote songs.”

Finally, when asked to finish the sentence “Park Jinyoung is __,” he chose the word “freedom”. “I’m a free person with the passion to do anything”, he explained. “I want to keep changing, live well in any way, and just live a good life”.

  • Song Kang Ho Reveals Shocking Reason He Rejected "Joint Security Area" Role at First — Find Out Why He Changed His Mind

Actor Song Kang Ho shocked fans by revealing the surprising reason he initially turned down the iconic role in Joint Security Area (JSA).

On February 4, the movie JSA was celebrated as a "Visionary" work at a special GV (Guest Visit) event for CJ ENM’s 30th anniversary at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. The event was attended by director Park Chan-wook and stars like Song Kang Ho, Lee Byung Hun, Lee Young Ae, Kim Tae Woo, and Ko Kyung Beom, who shared stories from the making of the film.

Joint Security Area, a groundbreaking film by director Park Chan-wook, tells the story of North and South Korean soldiers caught in a tragic incident at the border, highlighting the human side of the divided nations. The film has been widely praised for changing the perception of inter-Korean relations and is seen as a key moment in Korean cinema.

During the event, Song Kang Ho admitted that he turned down the JSA script at first, saying, "The script was just too perfect. It was so well-written and tightly woven that I couldn’t believe it. I thought, ‘Is this really Korean cinema at this level?’ I felt it was too good, and I figured the movie wouldn’t live up to the script."

He also mentioned that at the time, Park Chan-wook’s previous films hadn’t done well, which made him even more doubtful. "But after meeting the director, I started to trust him," Song Kang Ho added.

Reflecting on the film 20 years later, Song Kang Ho joked, "I was flipping through channels and watched JSA again. I thought, ‘There was a time when I wasn’t envious of Lee Byung Hun,’ but he looked so handsome and cool back then." He continued, laughing, "One thing about Park Chan-wook's films is that they have a depth and elegance that you just can’t forget. It’s probably why his new movie is called I Can’t Help It."

Song Kang Ho also spoke fondly of reuniting with his JSA co-stars after 25 years. He shared, "We didn’t watch the film together, but we had a cozy two-hour dinner. After all this time, it felt nostalgic. It was heartwarming to sit together again and reminisce about the past. It really made me realize how meaningful these moments are."
