• Song Min Ho Faces Growing Allegations of Skipping Service Duties and Avoiding Public Appearances: "Is He Getting Special Treatment?"

Allegations about WINNER's Song Min Ho and his military service are starting to pile up, with accusations of skipping his duties and avoiding public appearances. These claims are creating a stir among fans and the public alike.

On December 26, SBS's Curious Story Y aired a segment about the controversy surrounding Song Min Ho’s time in social service. The issue first came to light on December 17 when a person who worked with Song Min Ho revealed troubling details about his service.

Kim Seong Hyun (a pseudonym), who worked alongside Song Min Ho at the Facility Management Corporation, shared that Song Min Ho joined the public parking team in March 2023. Kim explained, “At first, he came regularly, but then it became less frequent. Sometimes he would only show up once or twice a month, and eventually, I almost never saw him.”

Kim also alleged that Song Min Ho avoided phone duties to prevent his name from being revealed, and would not interact directly with customers to avoid being recognized. He also mentioned that Song Min Ho only went to the post office once and never returned. Additionally, it was claimed that Song Min Ho would sometimes sit and play games or bring his laptop and sheet music, spending little time on actual duties.

When questioned by the production team, the Facility Management Corporation responded cautiously, as they are currently investigating the matter. They stated, “We hope you understand that we can’t say more about this matter right now.”

Song Min Ho’s agency has denied any wrongdoing, explaining that his medical leave was due to ongoing treatment before his service, and that all other absences were taken according to regulations.

However, concerns about his service have been raised due to his earlier confession about struggling with panic disorder, depression, and bipolar disorder since 2017. Some critics questioned the severity of his condition, as he was still active in entertainment during that time, appearing in movies and holding solo exhibitions.

A psychiatrist commented, “If his panic symptoms were severe enough to prevent him from working, his condition must have worsened significantly. It would have been difficult for someone in the public eye to perform such duties.”

Adding to the controversy, it was revealed that Song Min Ho traveled abroad during his service, attending his sister’s wedding in San Francisco in May 2023, and later going to Hawaii with a friend in October. These long-haul trips raised further suspicions.

A resident facility official where Song Min Ho worked said, “I only saw him two or three times in about 10 months. It doesn’t make sense. You can’t take unlimited leave.”

Some insiders suggested that Song Min Ho may have been given special treatment. A former social service worker manager said, “If you want to make an exception, you could easily assign someone to a less noticeable job, like working in storage.”

Currently, the system for tracking social service workers' attendance is based on handwritten records, which can be altered without detection. This has led to questions about the reliability of Song Min Ho’s attendance records.

A lawyer has warned that if Song Min Ho’s service records are proven to be false, he could face serious consequences. According to the Military Service Act, leaving a post without a valid reason for more than 8 days can lead to up to 3 years in prison and the requirement to make up for the missed time by working five times the days absent.

With investigations ongoing, the situation remains uncertain, and many are eager to learn more about what really happened with Song Min Ho’s military service.
