• BTS’s Jungkook Breaks Major Records with ‘Seven’ Surpassing 2.1 Billion Streams, Becomes the First Asian Artist to Earn “Music King” Title

BTS's Jungkook is making history with his solo track Seven! The song has officially surpassed 2.1 billion streams on Spotify, making it the first and only song by an Asian artist to reach this incredible milestone.

Seven achieved this feat in just 518 days, becoming the fourth-fastest song ever on Spotify to hit 2.1 billion streams globally. This remarkable achievement solidifies Jungkook’s status as the “Music King” with unmatched power in the global music scene.

Before this, Seven already made history by becoming the first song by an Asian artist to hold the number one spot on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global for an impressive 71 days. It also held the top spot for 9 weeks on the Weekly Top Songs Global chart in 2023, marking the longest reign for any male artist’s song worldwide that year. Additionally, Seven became the first K-pop solo track to remain on the Daily Top Songs Global chart for more than 500 days, proving its massive longevity.

Jungkook’s achievements don’t stop there. His solo tracks also earned spots on Spotify’s Top Tracks of 2024 Global list, making him the first Asian solo artist to have multiple songs on the platform’s annual global year-end chart. Seven even ranked 41st on Apple Music's Top Songs of 2024: Global year-end chart, setting a new record as the only K-pop solo artist song to be ranked for two consecutive years.

The song’s success extends beyond streaming charts. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, staying on the chart for 15 weeks. It also dominated the Billboard Global (excluding the U.S.) chart for 9 weeks in a row and topped the Global 200 chart for 7 weeks. Jungkook made history as the first Asian solo artist to chart continuously on both of these charts for a stunning 75 weeks.

In the UK, Seven entered the Official Chart’s Top 100 at number 3 and maintained a 14-week streak, becoming the first K-pop solo artist song to achieve such a feat.

Jungkook’s personal Spotify profile also reached a major milestone with 7.9 billion streams (before filtering), making him the K-pop artist with the fastest and first-ever solo artist to surpass this number.

With Seven, Jungkook has broken numerous global records, including the fastest to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify (before filtering), the most weekly streams for a male artist’s track (89.74 million), and the fastest 100 million streams (after filtering). He also holds the record for the most number-one hits (3) on the MENA chart by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), earning him recognition in the Guinness World Records.

At the Billboard Music Awards, Jungkook has also been crowned the "most awarded" K-pop solo artist, with a total of 3 trophies over the past two years.

Jungkook continues to shatter records and prove that he’s truly a force to be reckoned with in the global music world!

  • Lim Ji Yeon Addresses Backlash Over Cheering for Jung Woo Sung Amid His Scandal, "I Didn’t Expect the Public’s Reaction"

Actress Lim Ji Yeon is finally opening up about the unexpected backlash she received after showing support for actor Jung Woo Sung during his controversial return to the public eye.

In an interview on January 23rd, following the end of her drama The Tale of Lady Ok, Lim Ji Yeon spoke candidly about the situation that caused a stir at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards in November last year.

At the event, Jung Woo Sung made his public return after facing controversy surrounding an “illegitimate child” with model Moon Ga Bi. While Jung Woo Sung took the stage to apologize, Lim Ji Yeon was seen clapping and cheering for him.

Reflecting on that moment, Lim Ji Yeon shared, "It was a brief moment, so it’s hard to say whether it was right or wrong." She added, "I didn’t expect the public’s reaction. On the other hand, I was cautious since The Tale of Lady Ok was airing at the time."

For those who missed it, Jung Woo Sung and Moon Ga Bi, who had been in a relationship since 2022, revealed last year that they were expecting a child.

The actor took full responsibility for the situation and issued an apology during the awards ceremony, saying, "I’m sorry for causing concern and disappointment to everyone who has shown me love and support. I will bear all the criticism, and I promise to take full responsibility as a father to my son".

However, while Jung Woo Sung addressed the controversy, it was Lim Ji Yeon’s show of support that sparked controversy.

She cheered enthusiastically for Jung Woo Sung, while actress Hye Ri, who was seated next to her, kept a neutral, expressionless face. This led to a wave of criticism from some netizens who questioned Lim Ji Yeon’s reaction.

It’s worth noting that Lim Ji Yeon’s agency, Artist Company, was co-founded by Jung Woo Sung and actor Lee Jung Jae, both of whom currently serve as directors.

Could this connection have influenced Lim Ji Yeon’s public display of support? She’s still processing the response, and fans are curious to know how she’ll handle the fallout moving forward.
