BTS’s V has earned a spot in holiday music history as his solo track "Christmas Tree" was selected as one of Billboard’s “25 Best Christmas Songs of the 21st Century.”
Billboard recently shared their list of the top holiday tracks, explaining, “One of the best parts of the holiday season every year is undoubtedly the music,” and highlighting the timeless classics as well as newer songs that have become beloved during the holidays.
The publication went on to describe how the 2000s brought forth some unforgettable Christmas hits, many of which are becoming timeless classics.
"Christmas Tree" by V was ranked at No. 19, joining other iconic songs like Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath the Tree,” Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me,” Sia’s “Snowman,” and Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe.”
Released on December 24, 2021, as part of the “Our Beloved Summer” OST, "Christmas Tree" quickly became a fan favorite, with V’s emotional vocals perfectly capturing the spirit of the holiday season.
The song also made history by being the first K-OST to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 55 on the Holiday Hot 100 chart. It was also the first K-pop solo track to top the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Holiday Digital Song Sales chart.
Although it wasn’t officially labeled a Christmas carol, "Christmas Tree" was included on Elite Daily’s “24 Christmas Songs Released After Y2K” playlist and even ranked as the most popular Christmas song on Spotify by Edinburgh Live, surpassing even Mariah Carey!
