BTS’s Jin is continuing to shine solo as his album "Happy" has just earned a major achievement in Japan!
On December 10, the Japan Record Association announced that "Happy", Jin’s first solo album, surpassed 250,000 shipments as of November, earning the coveted Platinum certification. This marks Jin’s very first Platinum certification for his solo work! His previous solo single "The Astronaut" also earned a Gold certification, showing his growing success as a solo artist.
The Japan Record Association gives Gold, Platinum, and Double Platinum certifications based on the number of albums shipped. Gold is awarded for over 100,000 copies, Platinum for over 250,000, and Double Platinum for over 500,000 copies.
Jin’s success in Japan started strong with "Happy", released on November 15. Just three days after its release, the album topped the Oricon Weekly Digital Album Ranking (for November 11–17). On its first day, it sold nearly 220,000 copies, reaching No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Album Ranking (on November 16). This made "Happy" the best-selling K-pop solo album in Japan for the highest first-day sales of the year.
Additionally, Jin’s album continued to dominate Japan’s music charts, securing a spot at No. 19 on the Billboard Japan "Hot Albums" chart for the ten-day period (covering November 27, 2023, to November 24, 2024). It also ranked in the top 20 on the "Top Album Sales" chart and No. 33 on the "Download Albums" chart, further cementing his status as a major global star.
With "Happy", Jin is proving that his success isn't just limited to BTS—he's truly making his mark as a solo artist worldwide!
