• Billboard Ranks TWS' Debut Song 'First Encounter Didn't Go As Planned' Among Top 5 K-Pop Tracks of 2024 – Here's Why

Billboard has just dropped a huge compliment on the rookie K-pop group TWS, praising their debut track "First Encounter Didn't Go As Planned" for its thrilling storytelling and catchy sound.

In its recent list of “The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2024: Staff Picks”, Billboard placed TWS' debut song at a solid 5th spot, shining the spotlight on their powerful entrance into the K-pop scene. The song had already impressed critics earlier this year, securing 3rd place in Billboard's mid-year rankings.

Billboard described "First Encounter Didn't Go As Planned" as a "surprise hit" that held its ground on the Billboard Global 200 chart for two months, calling it the perfect way for TWS to claim the title of "Best Newcomer of 2024." They raved, saying, "From the thrilling opening to the powerful chorus, the song’s story is brought to life with smooth production."

The praise didn’t stop there! Billboard continued, "With this debut track, TWS not only introduced a fresh sound but also proved they're an unstoppable team, ready to captivate listeners with every release."

TWS is clearly making waves, as their debut song also ranked 6th on TikTok's “Year on TikTok 2024” chart in Korea and 6th in Apple Music's “Top Songs of 2024” in the country. What’s even more impressive? TWS was the only K-pop boy group to appear in the top ranks on both charts, solidifying their huge impact in the music scene.

In just 10 months since their debut, TWS has already racked up 9 awards, including 'Best New Artist' at the 2024 Asia Star Entertainer Awards, 'K World Dream Super Rookie Award' at the 2024 K World Dream Awards, and 'Artist of the Year' at the 2024 The Fact Music Awards. They’ve proven themselves as one of the top new acts of 2024, and it’s clear their journey has just begun!

Recently, TWS released their first single "Last Bell" and have been promoting their title track "Last Festival". The new song has been praised for its refreshing vibe, showcasing the members’ clear vocals and energetic performances while adding a touch of sentiment, making it the perfect winter track to enjoy. TWS is showing no signs of slowing down!

Rosé reminisced about the release of BLACKPINK’s hit song "APT." and shared, "The day the song came out, I was so nervous when I woke up. I started getting messages from friends. I saw that Lisa had reached out, so I ended up video calling her for over an hour."
