SEVENTEEN has earned another impressive victory on Japan's Oricon Weekly Chart, making history once again.
According to Oricon on December 5th, SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, Joshua, Vernon, and Dino) topped the "Weekly Combined Single Ranking" for the week of December 9th, with their Japanese single Shohikigen (消費期限). The single had also topped the Oricon "Weekly Single Ranking" on December 3rd.
The "Weekly Combined Single Ranking" takes into account CD sales, digital downloads, and streaming counts. SEVENTEEN earned an impressive 427,343 points, with 418,000 of those coming from CD sales. Oricon stated that this is the highest weekly point record achieved by an overseas artist with a single album this year.
This marks SEVENTEEN's fourth consecutive No. 1 on this chart, starting from their 2020 Japanese single Fallin' Flower. They now hold the record for the most consecutive No. 1s by an overseas artist.
Shohikigen also claimed the top spot on Billboard Japan's "Top Single Sales" chart for the week of December 4th, while the title track reached No. 2 on the "Hot 100" chart for the same period. This shows SEVENTEEN's massive popularity in Japan.
Currently, SEVENTEEN is performing for local fans in Japan as part of their SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN. The tour kicked off on November 29th and 30th at Vantelin Dome Nagoya, followed by a show at Tokyo Dome on December 4th.
