Broadcast star Yoo Jae Suk opened up about his past stage fright, sharing how intense his nerves were during his early career.
In the upcoming episode of SBS’s variety show Whenever You Can, airing on December 3, Yoo Jae Suk reveals that he once felt “at risk of electrocution” because of the sweat caused by his nervousness, shocking viewers with his candid story.
On this episode, Yoo Jae Suk reflects on his early days before becoming the “nation’s MC,” recalling how he would tremble from anxiety. “I used to shake because of nausea,” he admits. “On bad days, my hand holding the microphone would sweat so much that I thought I might get electrocuted and die.” He adds, “I think that’s why I still can’t play games well when it gets serious,” showing how his stage fright has lingered over the years.
When fellow cast member Park Se Ri asks if he still gets nervous, Yoo Jae Suk’s co-star, Yoo Yeon Seok, jokes, “He gets extremely nervous. He’s fine during the recording, but when it’s time for a game, it’s no joke.” The cast shares stories of Yoo Jae Suk’s funny “nervous” moments during games, leaving everyone laughing.
Meanwhile, Park Se Ri, known for her strong will as the “Golf Queen,” surprises the cast by admitting she also gets nervous before games on Whenever You Can. Her biggest challenge? The “Peak Punching” game. Despite her past experience as an athlete, where she says she was too focused to get nervous, she struggles during the game, leaving Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok frustrated with her performance. Eventually, Park Se Ri confesses, “I was way too timid,” adding, “This was the hardest recording I’ve ever done,” showing a rare moment of self-doubt.
Will Yoo Jae Suk overcome his “born-to-be stage fright” in future game challenges? And how will Park Se Ri handle her nerves in the next game? Find out in the next episode of Whenever You Can.
Episode 15 of Whenever You Can airs on December 3 at 10:20 PM.
