SEVENTEEN is once again making waves in Japan! The K-pop group’s 4th Japanese single album, Shohikigen (消費期限/Consumption Date), has topped Japan's Oricon chart, proving their strong popularity in the country.
According to the latest Oricon chart released on November 27 for the week of November 26, Shohikigen sold an impressive 362,369 copies on its first day, claiming the No. 1 spot on the Daily Single Ranking.
The title track "Shohikigen" is a beautiful ballad that highlights SEVENTEEN’s emotional and delicate vocals. The lyrics of the song focus on the idea of emotions having an expiration date, adding a deep and reflective touch to the track. It also serves as the theme song for the popular NHK drama 未?の私にぶっかまされる!? (Miraino Watashi ni Bukkamasareru!?), which helped create buzz around the song before its release. The music video for "Shohikigen" was released alongside the album and quickly climbed to No. 1 on Japan’s major streaming platform, Line Music’s Music Video Top 100 chart.
This marks another milestone for SEVENTEEN in Japan, as they have previously topped Oricon's Daily Album Ranking with 17 IS RIGHT HERE in April and SPILL THE FEELS in October. Additionally, Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s single THIS MAN also reached No. 1 on the Daily Single Ranking earlier this year. With Shohikigen topping the chart, SEVENTEEN's presence in Japan continues to grow stronger.
The group is also expanding their influence in Japan with their SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN. The tour will stop at four major domes across the country, starting on November 29-30 at the Vantelin Dome Nagoya. They will also perform at the Kyocera Dome Osaka on December 4-5, and the Fukuoka PayPay Dome on December 19 and 21-22. Along with the concerts, SEVENTEEN will offer a special city-themed concert experience called SEVENTEEN THE CITY in Aichi, Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka.
