BTS’s Jin is taking Japan by storm with his first solo album Happy, which is proving his immense popularity worldwide. Released on November 15, the album has been making huge waves, capturing the attention of fans across the globe.
According to Oricon’s chart released on November 20, Happy claimed the No. 1 spot on the "Weekly Digital Album Ranking" (for the week of November 11–17) after just three days of tracking.
With an impressive first-week sales of 219,241 copies, the album now holds the third-highest first-week sales for any K-pop solo artist in Oricon history.
Additionally, Happy became the best-selling K-pop solo album on its release day in Japan this year, setting a major milestone for Jin.
Jin's pre-release song "I'll Be There," the title track "Running Wild," and other tracks from Happy all shot to the top of Oricon’s charts.
On November 26, Jin dropped another track, "To Reach You" (feat. Taka), a collaboration with ONE OK ROCK's lead vocalist Taka, which also debuted at No. 1 on Oricon's Daily Digital Single Chart for November 26.
With five No. 1 singles on the Oricon Daily Digital Single Chart, Jin has now secured the second-highest record for a Korean and K-pop artist in this category.
The title track "Running Wild" also made waves on Spotify Japan, taking the No. 1 spot on the Daily Top Songs chart on November 21. The song garnered an impressive 522,000 streams in a single day, surpassing BTS's "Butter," which previously held the record with 503,930 streams.
This makes "Running Wild" the most-streamed K-pop song on Spotify Japan to date.
Jin's solo album Happy is not only dominating Japan, but also making an impact in major music markets like the U.S. and the U.K., further proving that he’s a true global star.
