• Go Hyun Jung Gets Emotional Talking About Her Children, Says "We Aren’t Close, It Makes Me Sad"

    Actress Go Hyun Jung became emotional as she opened up about her relationship with her children on the November 27th episode of tvN's You Quiz on the Block (Episode 271).

    Go Hyun Jung is best known for her role as Mi Shil in the hit 2009 drama Queen Seondeok. The intense scene of Mi Shil's death made history, achieving a viewership rating of 50% per minute, and Go Hyun Jung even won the Grand Prize at the 2009 MBC Drama Awards.

    During her award speech, she tearfully said, "I hope my children are watching," which caught a lot of attention.

    During the You Quiz on the Block episode, Go Hyun Jung shared her feelings about being a mother. "People often ask if I see my children often," she said. "The first thing I can say is that a mother should just be comfortable, right? But that's easier said than done."

    She revealed that she doesn't live with her children, which has made their relationship feel somewhat awkward at times.

    "When I felt that we aren’t close, I didn’t realize that not being close could be so sad," she added, her voice shaking with emotion. "It really upset me. It's something you can't fill because it's gone."

    Go Hyun Jung, born in 1971, is now 53 years old. She first rose to fame in the 1989 Miss Korea pageant and became widely popular through the drama The Sandglass.

    After marrying Shinsegae Group chairman Chung Yong Jin in 1995, she retired from the entertainment industry.

    The couple had two children, a son and a daughter, but they divorced in 2003 after 8 and a half years of marriage. Rumors of a 1.5 billion KRW alimony settlement followed their separation.

    Go Hyun Jung made her dramatic return to acting in 2005 through the drama Spring Days, while her children were raised by Chairman Chung Yong Jin.
